Haworth
Haworth is one of the most famous villages in Yorkshire due to its association with the Bronte sisters.It is not surprising that the descriptions of the countryside in their novels "Jane Eyre" and "Wuthering Heights" reflect the splendour of West Yorkshire and the nearby Dales. The Bronte parsonage Museum and church contain lots of memorabilia and detail about the family. The local Keighley and Worth Valley Steam Railway has been used as the setting for many film and television shows, including "The Railway Children".
Every year in May the village hosts a 1940’s weekend, where villagers don outfits from the era and hold a host of nostalgic events. Walks around Haworth can lead you up onto the Yorkshire Dales National Park; Go to Top Withens which is said to have been the setting for Heathcliff’s farmstead in ‘Wuthering Heights’. Bed and Breakfasts, holiday cottages and Hotels can be found around Haworth and in neighbouring Keighley and Hebden Bridge.
