Looking at Haworth, it is easy to see how the magnificent and dramatic landscape could inspire the girls to write such great novels, including Charlotte Bronte’s ‘Jane Eyre’ and Emily Bronte’s ‘Wuthering Heights’. The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway is an authentic preserved steam railway which has been used as the setting for many film and television shows, including ‘The Railway Children’. Every year in May the village hosts a 1940’s weekend, where villagers don outfits form the era and hold a host of nostalgic events.

Walks around Haworth can lead you up onto the Yorkshire Moors, and it is possible to go to Top Withens, where it is said to have been the setting for Heathcliff’s farmstead in ‘Wuthering Heights’. Due to the popularity of the Bronte sisters, Haworth is often busy. There are many places to stay but they do get booked up quickly so advanced booking is required. Bed and Breakfasts, guest houses, holiday cottages and Hotels can be found around Haworth and in neighbouring Keighley and Hebden Brigde.
